Upgrade to latest Tbird beta-channel, Name Thunderbird Version 57.0b1 Build ID 20171108141117 Update Channel beta User Agent Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:57.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/57.0 OS Linux 4.13.12-3.g9151c66-default with QuickFolders 4.7.1 false quickfolders@curious.be will NOT startup, whether in normal 'production' profile, or clean/vanilla profile. Simply disabling just QuickFolders, TB startup is OK. Drop back to TB v56.x beta, all works ok, *including* QuickFolders.
Bug accepted - I am aware of this. There is multiple fallout on all my XUL based addons with breaking m-c changes from version 57 (Firefox and Thunderbird) following Mozilla's deprecation of legacy addon for Firefox. I have started debugging using: Thunderbird.exe -no-remote -console -jsdebugger -jsdebugger which loads at least the debugging environment & console, however none of the addon's JS files are loaded into memory. There is one error that (according to #maildev IRC) may be inconsequential: Unrecognized chrome manifest modifier 'platform'. chrome.manifest:55 The error is indicated for the wrong line and has been seen before on other Addons without causing problems. I will continue to investigate but may need help from the Thunderbird de team / community.
Same problem with Windows 10 Pro 64 bit version 1709 build 16299.64 (Redstone 2). Thunderbird 57.0b1 (32-Bit) starts, mails are updated in the background, but the user window does not open. After disabling Quickfolders in Thunderbirds protected mode Thunderbird starts normally.
Created an attachment (id=8337) [details] 4.7.2 prerelease 58 Here is an experimental version with quite a few adjustments. Did some rough smoke testing, at least Thunderbird is not prevented from loading its main window. When testing, please proceed with caution and have a look for error messages / warnings in error console (CTRL+SHIFT+J)

QF-generated Tabs appear as normal. move to folders seems to work as normal. Checking console, _no_ QF-related errors at all. So far ... will keep an eye out for a bit.

Thank you very much for these quick fixes !! Wolfgang Preuß

Created an attachment (id=8347) [details] 4.7.2 prerelease 59 Removed a breaking reference to ISO8601DateUtils.jsm in quickfolders-interface.js smoke-tested successfully with Thunderbird Daily 58.0a1 (2017-11-03) (32-bit) I believe there are still problems with Tb beta versions because of some changes to the prefs branch code spilling over from mozilla central (that streamlined the code for Firefox quantum). Once I get a working beta [or some shim code for replacing the missing pref branch code] I can move forward fix other issues with Thunderbird 57. typical breaking errors would be: (NS_ERROR_UNEXPECTED) [nsIPrefBranch.getIntPref] (NS_NOINTERFACE) [nsIPrefBranch.getComplexValue]"
Created an attachment (id=8349) [details] 4.7.2 prerelease 66 Added some fixes for Tb 57 beta2
Fixed - QuickFolders Release 4.8 - submitted to addons.mozilla.org today
Fixed in 4.8
